The best on the market for the price.
By Stoic Athos
I needed a laptop for: presentation to clients, web & email, excel, watching movies when out of town. This laptop is more than enough for all of that. If you're a gamer, there's probably not enough speed. If you're a graphic designer, the LCD may get on your nerves. In general I prefer desktops because I like the modular components, cheaper price, more power, full-size keyboard & mouse. The biggest issues for me with laptops are the keyboard & track pads. I use the number pad a lot, and this one has it. The keyboard on this computer also feels very natural and is pretty quiet when typing. I usually HATE track pads. On past laptops that I've owned, I never went anywhere without an additional mouse so that I wouldn't have to use horrid track pad and get frustrated at how long everything took. Samsung, being the same manufacturer as Apple products, uses the same large, well-designed track pad with multi-touch apple functionality (2-finger scroll, zoom-in or out by moving 2 fingers closer or farther apart...). I just played with this for a few hours with no mouse, and I'm pretty sure that I won't need to carry a mouse around with this computer. It also runs very quietly (so much so that it almost seems like a solid state drive), quickly, and feels pretty light weight. Runs cool too, maybe that's normal for laptops now, but my older work laptop gets to hot to actually set it on your lap. It turns out that it's also currently consumer reports highest rated laptop under $700.The only downside is the screen. While the screen quality is comparable with most other laptops under $1000, it's lower quality than what I'm accustomed to since I'm used to desktop monitors. That's a very small concession though.

Better than the HP I purchased.
By AccioFirebolt
I actually bought myself an HP laptop right before I purchased this one. My intention was to give this as a gift and keep the HP. I ended up giving away the HP and keeping this one. That says a lot because I love HPs and have had various HP laptops over the past 10 years. If you look at my other reviews you will see the review for the HP.This has a very slim design and looks really stylish which doesn't really matter because I never take my laptop out of the house but I'm just saying. The HP is also very stylish but the texture is so smooth that it's impractical. The HP is so silky that it slides in your hands when you try to lift it or carry it. The HP also holds finger prints and smears easily. The mouse pad and buttons of the HP are also silky and it causes a lot of typos and such which didn't work for me because I write a lot and use my laptop every waking hour. Even after I adjusted the mouse and pointer settings, I still had issues with the HP. The Samsung has a feel similar to leather to it, for lack of a better comparision. It is smooth but still grainy enough that your hands and fingers don't slide all over the keyboard. That may sound silly but if you use your laptop as much as I do it really does make a difference especially when you are typing and navigating around websites. The only advantage the HP had over this one was the loudness of the speakers and the only main complaint I have about the Samsung is that it has typical laptop speakers so that if there is any noise in my house I can't hear the speakers well even on full volume. So if you are buying this to watch movies or videos on, you might want to buy some speakers. Other than that, I have no complaints about the Samsung.I love the keyboard. The keys are spaced out nicely and you have a full keyboard and number pad. I have to have a full number pad on my laptop. This is great for typing so if you are a writer I would recommend this. It just has a great feel for typing on it. There is plenty of room between the edge of the laptop and the keyboard for your palms and wrists to sit comfortably and the mouse is in a convenient position. It is great for watching DVDs and Netflix. The DVD player snaps out sturdily from the laptop and you don't feel like you are going to break it when you put a DVD in. The push button for the DVD player sticks out far enough that you can pop it open easily. On the HP, the push button was so far into the lid that you could hardly open it to put a DVD in.So I know I've talked about a lot of random things in this review but they are things that I have encountered with all my laptops that are issues for me. This Samsung is great and it is my main computer that I use for everything and I would recommend it. Just get a speaker system or headphones and you'll be fine.Update:Had laptop about 6 months or so. No problems to report except, like I said before, the speakers are TERRIBLE. I have to use headphones or bluetooth usually even when there is no background noise. Otherwise, very satisfied with purchase.

Good value for your buck
By Valken
Quality of laptop is higher than Dell and HP. The screen resolution is high and has good contrast. The problems others have stated here seem to be a software issue. Overall I haven't had any problems yet.
