Mostly Happy
By Nathan
This computer perfectly fitted my needs. Strong CPU, lots of RAM, and a decently powerful graphics card. The Intel 3630QM has 4 cores, each one hyper-threaded, giving a total of 8 logical cores. 12 GB of RAM is more than I've ever had, and I'm looking forward to the day where it will all be utilized. So far though, I'm happy that I'm using 2-4 GB of ram, while my OS caches on the rest. The Intel HD 4000 has also been nice to use, and is faster than my last GPU which was getting quite old, the Nvidia 8600 GT. The 1080p screen is also enjoyable. My laptop came with windows 8, which I am not a big fan of. However, my main concern wasn't really with windows 8, but with the immense amount of bloatware HP put on top of the OS. I would highly recommend a clean re-install, or else manually removing all the unnecessary HP programs. The OS might be a bit tricky to reinstall however, since this computer uses UEFI instead of BIOS. I am not reviewing the OS that came with the machine, only the machine itself, although I just wanted to mention that the HP software bundled with windows 8 was frustrating to deal with. The build quality of this laptop is average. The bottom of my palm occasionally grazes the track pad when typing, causing the curser to fly around. The keyboard, though being a nicely spaced island keyboard, seems a little cheap and flimsy. Back lit keyboard looks great, as well as the hot-keys at the top of the keyboard. Bonus points for putting the CTRL key as the leftmost key instead of FN. Unfortunately my keyboard was a little loose from the frame, and this was extremely disappointing. Perhaps the keyboard became loose in shipping, and I will try to pop it back in place later today, but I'm a little nervous regarding the overall quality if the keyboard is already poped after a few days with this machine.Overall I'm mostly happy with this computer. The specs were pretty great for the price that I bought it at. My only concern was with the build quality of the computer, such as the loose keyboard I described, and other cheap-feeling components, which can be expected from an HP machine.A final note for LINUX users:UEFI is a pain to deal with. I switched back to BIOS comparability because I didn't want to deal with installing windows and Arch Linux side by side on UEFI. After a lot of reading I managed to install windows and Arch Linux on the machine, with grub to switch between the two OS. Arch Linux works well with this machine, and I haven't run into any problems yet with Linux. Even the sound and media keys are recognized by the kernel. If you're simply going to install Linux overriding the Windows partition, you're going to have a much easier time.

I REALLY LOVE THIS LAPTOP
By JeremyR
I was looking for a powerful laptop with a good price and a big screen and I found it!was very hard to decide it without any review but I took the decision and I am not disappointedthe best:-Screen has the maximum resolution- Sound is amazing I never heard before something like that from a laptop it has more power than a tv OMG!!!- Design is beautiful the logo HP has a blue light and the laptop is covered by an excellent material.- Nice frontal camera- About software is perfect> Intel 7> 2.4ghz 1tb hard drive 12gb ram is extremely fast!!!Well my favorite part is the Sound you don't need more speakers for this laptop its enough with the incredible quality that it has I extremely recommend this laptop.!!!THERE IS JUST ONE THING THAT I DONT LOVE YET, and its the Windows 8 System Operative. this is my firs time trying to use it and its hard its so confuse, by the way you have the option to use it in desktop (and enjoy the new windows interface xD)but when you go to your files for example documents I don't know how to open a new file like in windows 7. so if you are in downloads and you want to paste something to your documents you have to copy the file and return back to the downloads file to paste. with the windows 7 you can open a multiple files, maybe in the SO 8 too but I don't know how yet...i extremely recommend a mouse for this OS when you are on the internet and you are using you mouse pad to move sometimes it bring you another window from your desktop. example: if you left the picture section open and you are on the internet it bring you back to watch your pictures or another stuff that u left open and you said what !!!? is very annoying...well that's why I am learning how to use the new OS if you know already how to manage this OS it wont be a problem for you. I hope that this review help you in your decision.

Wow, Great Bang For The Buck
By Sam
After searching for over 2 weeks for a laptop that had a nice big screen and back light keyboard I found this laptop. As a software engineer I wanted a pc that had a quad processor, large hard drive and lots of memory. This pc is so sweet. I just had it for approx 2 weeks but absolutely love it. I wanted to get a laptop that could replace my desktop if it go down for any reason.I am very pleased with this laptop and windows 8 work great with the track pad. Touch screen is not required. Use the touch pad as you would use your android or iphone screen. It is awesome.I hooked up to my wireless network in minutes and have yet to have a problem. The connection is solid.I orginally wanted a laptop with Windows 7, but Windows 8 rock once you learn how to use it. I also downloaded a free start bar menu online which is the same as Windows 7. So I can do everything that I did before with the operating system.
